Donor Car.

I would like an opinion on what type of vehicle I should use for the chassis of the Electric Vehicle.

What should I choose as Car Chassis.

This was posted to youtube by Dale a member of the MNEAA Minnesota Electric Auto Association.  It uses the same 3 phase motor as I am using.  The controller will be different however.  Dale used the Azure Dynamics controller and I will be using an Enova controller.

Metri-Pack Sealed GPIO connector

posted Nov 21, 2011 8:43 PM by Paul Schilling

I found the connector for connecting the accelerator POT, lights, diagnostics, and gauge outputs for the inverter.  This connector is a Metri-Pack 150 series connector made by Delphi.  The description of the two parts I need is Connector Assembly 30F and the Delphi part number is 12034398 and 12034400.

Connector Part Numbers

posted Nov 19, 2011 1:56 PM by Paul Schilling   [ updated Nov 20, 2011 6:51 PM ]

Glenair makes MIL SPEC connectors used on the ENOVA controller.
The connectors are from the Glenair Series ITS MIL-DTL-5015 Type Reverse Bayonet Connectors.

Tad from Glenair was very helpful in selecting the appropriate part numbers.

I still need to locate the manufacturer of the two 30 pin connectors.  Leave a message on my Contact page if you know where I might find a the manufacturer.

Motor front cover

posted Nov 1, 2011 5:55 PM by Paul Schilling   [ updated Nov 10, 2011 8:26 PM ]

The front cover taken off so that I can design a mounting scheme.
My son is helping me put it back together.

The 3 phase motor doesn't have a C-face mounting flange.  I have
two choices:
1.) buy a C-Face face plate from azure dynamics
2.) Use a metal plate with shims on each ear of the motor cover.  Then
make threaded holes to mount the the transmission adapter.

RS-232 and GPIO

RS-232 connector and GPIO for things like accelerator pot connection, lights and etc.
Another reverse bayonet connector and an unknown rectangular connector.

The round connector is available from Glenair.  The insert is type 16 S - 1

Charge, 12 VDC, and Ground

posted Oct 31, 2011 7:15 PM by Paul Schilling   [ updated Nov 18, 2011 8:54 PM ]

The 6 pin connector in the middle with 3 large pins is the 240 VAC charge connector.  My son is taking the nut off of the ground lug.   The post with the black insulator is the 12 VDC output lug.

UPDATE:  The reverse bayonet is type 20-22

Power Connectors

Battery Connector and Voltage sense wires.  This is another ITS MIL-DTL-5015 Type Reverse Bayonet Connector like the one used on the motor connector.

Update:    This connector I was also able to find via Glenair.
It is a insert type 32-15
